Michael Fuller was formerly Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of the Crown Prosecution Service. This was an independent role, which required him to inspect the performance of public prosecutors and formally report to the Attorney General and the Justice Committee of the House of Commons. He is a Barrister (non-practising) and was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 2007.
Prior to his appointment as HM Chief Inspector, Michael had a long and distinguished career in the Police Service.
He came to prominence in April 2004 when he was appointed in Kent as Britain’s first black Chief Constable. He subsequently received the Queen’s Police Medal for distinguished service.
During Michael’s 26 years in the Metropolitan Police he helped set up the Racial and Violent Crime Task Force and drew up the Met Police action plan in response to criticism of the force arising from the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry.
